LibreELEC (Krypton) v7.90.004 ALPHA LibreELEC (Krypton) 8.0 preview builds continue with v7.90.004 which is now available for all build projects. Krypton support for imx6, WeTek Play/Core and various Amlogic devices is still being refined so do not expect perfection: we need our supporting community builders and code contributors to refocus their efforts from improving Jarvis to improving Krypton. The changes in v7.90.004 include: Fix IR auto-repeat on many remotes Fix use of custom remote.conf files Fix /flash and /system unmount messages at shutdown Fix use of freetype in lcdproc Fix use S/PDIF passthrough on imx6 Fix typos in the imx6 update script Fix logic of NAND installs on WeTek Play/Core devices Fix “route add†failures from Busybox when using OpenVPN Fix handling of progressive content causing green screens in Generic Fix unsupported use of UAS in Raspberry Pi kernels Update to Linux 4.7 kernel Update to Kodi alpha3- Update to RPi/RPi2 backports and firmware Update to imx6 kernel, libcec and Kodi Update to boot resolution (splash rendering) code Update to amremote driver Update primary nVidia driver to 367.35 Updates to numerous other build-system packages Add database migration status indication to Kodi splash screen Add creation of OVA images to the Virtual project Add Atric IR-wakeup-USB support to lirc Add disk “out of space†warnings to the init/update process View detailed changes on GitHub PASSTHROUGH AUDIO In Kodi Krypton passthrough audio requires VideoPlayer to use the audio clock of the source material as its time reference. If you enable “sync playback to display†Kodi is forced to use the connected panel frequency for its clock reference so passthrough audio is automatically disabled. Older versions of Kodi had a mode that duplicates (or drops) source audio to keep the audio clock in sync with the panel but this hack has been removed in Krypton. This is mentioned because we see reports of “passthrough does not work in Alpha builds!†and legacy “sync playback to display†configuration is the main cause. AUTO UPDATE LibreELEC v7.90.xxx Alpha builds will update automatically to future Alpha, Beta, and the Final 8.0 release if auto-update is enabled. In a clean installation auto-update is defaulted to off. LibreELEC operates a 24-hour ‘canary’ period between release files being posted to the download page and the release being available via auto-update. MANUAL UPDATE If you are running LibreELEC v7.90.002 or v7.90.003 manual update can be performed from within the settings application. Click “check for updates†and the v7.90.004 update is listed. There is no need to download and copy the update file over to the box. ** CAUTION ** Alpha builds exist for hands-on testing not a hands-off experience. If you run Alpha builds you must be willing to report issues via the forums and engage LibreELEC and Kodi developers in hunting bugs. If you have no idea what a debug log is or “wife acceptance factor†is critical, these builds are not for you. If you would like to participate in Alpha testing please make a backup and store it somewhere safe (off-box) before updating. Your failure to make a backup is not our problem.

LibreELEC (Krypton) v7.95.2 BETA by chewitt · February 3, 2017 LibreELEC (Krypton) 8.0 preview releases continue with v7.95.2 available for all build projects except Amlogic aarch64 devices. LibreELEC v7.95.2 is based upon Kodi Krypton 17.0 final. If no major issues are identified we expect 8.0.0 to be the next release. Changes in v7.95.2 include: Fix media_build issues with some IR drivers Fix an issue with taglib and mp3 streams Fix TT-S2-3600 DVB device Update to DVB firmware Update to Raspberry Pi firmware Update to Linux support patches for Raspberry Pi Update to Kodi v17.0 final Update to LibreELEC settings 0.8.8 to fix minor cosmetic issues View detailed changes on GitHub AARCH64 MEMLEAK Amlogic aarch64 projects (WeTek Hub, WeTek Play 2, and Odroid C2) are still excluded from Beta due to a memory leak issue. Although we have not identified the root cause, we have eliminated a number of areas from suspicion and are now focussed on the integration between Kodi and ffmpeg. We have also identified several issues with kernel memory management are are now testing changes to resolve them. If the memleak is fixed before 8.0.0 release we will provide a 7.95.2 build. If it is not fixed before 8.0.0 there will be an Alpha release for aarch64 approx. ~48 hours after 8.0.0 with a Beta for aarch64 once the issue is resolved. The team thanks our aarch64 users for being patient while we work the problem and follow a proper testing and release process. BOOT PARTITION SIZE The LibreELEC (Krypton) 7.95.2 image for Generic x86_64 hardware is 216MB so it fits in the 230MB boot partition size limit of older OpenELEC installations without resizing the boot partition or forcing a complete reinstallation. ** CANARY PERIOD ** LibreELEC operates a 24-hour ‘canary’ period between release files being posted for download and the release being available via auto-update. During this time our LibreELEC 8.0 Alpha or Beta preview and LibreELEC 7.0.3 users can use the LibreELEC settings add-on to update manually from within the Kodi GUI. LibreELEC (Krypton) v8.2.1 MR BY CHEWITT · NOVEMBER 21, 2017 LibreELEC 8.2.1 is a maintenance release that includes Kodi 17.6. It also resolves a minor time-zone issue after recent daylight saving changes, a resume from suspend issue with the Apple IR driver, and it provides two new SMB client configuration options in Kodi settings. You can now set a minimum SMB protocol version to prevent prevent SMB1 from ever being used, and a ‘legacy security’ option forces weak authentication to resolve issues seen with the USB sharing functions on some older router/NAS devices. If updating to LibreELEC 8.2 for the first time PLEASE READ THE RELEASE NOTES below here before posting issues in the forums as there are disruptive changes to Lirc, Samba, and Tvheadend. As Kodi 17.6 has been declared the final Krypton release (no further updates) we also expect LibreELEC 8.2.1 to be the final 8.2 update. The team are now focussed on LibreELEC (Leia) 9.0 development. Changes since LibreELEC 8.2.0 include: Fix issues with the Apple IR driver not working after suspend Fix ‘file exists’ errors with SMB connections to Win10 shares Update Samba to 4.6.10 Update tz-data to 2017c Update Kodi to 17.6 Add SMB client options for minimum SMB protocol Add SMB legacy security option with NTLMv1 and disabled SPNEGO See detailed changes on GitHub.
